Towards a climate resilient and safe Mediterranean coast in Egypt – Is Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) the answer? - A joint session between the ECCADP and JCAR

In two sessions, we will present the efforts that have been undertaken by the Joint Cooperation in Applied Research (JCAR) project and Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation in the North Coast and Nile Delta Regions in Egypt Project (ECCADP), and engage with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, to collect their feedback on how these efforts could be channeled to support decision-making. Our goal is to promote and enhance collaboration and integration between stakeholders, researchers, and practitioners in the coastal zone. The umbrella of integration is the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) plan currently in preparation by ECCADP; supported by the tools that are being developed by both JCAR and ECCADP, in addition to the capacity building programs of both projects. The sessions will also emphasize how the ICZM plan along with the developed tools and associated capacity building are cornerstones for evidence-based decision-making that ensures sustainable development in the coastal zone. Participants in the session will also have a space to express their opinions and reflect on the outputs of the two projects with a view to improving future activities within the two projects and for other similar projects.
