The global Water Community welcomed the convening of the United Nations Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Implementation of the Objectives of the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development,” 2018–2028, from 22 to 24 March 2023, which generated significant momentum towards enhancing water action and political commitment at all levels to address water-related challenges, while reaffirming the sustainable development goals and targets related to water resources and sanitation, including those contained in the 2030 Agenda, and determined to achieve the goal of ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all and other related goals and targets, emphasizing that water is critical for sustainable development and the eradication of poverty and hunger, that water, ecosystems, energy, food security and nutrition are linked and that water is indispensable for health, well-being and human development, including the empowerment of women, and a vital element of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and other relevant goals in the social, environmental and economic fields,
