T.S. Egypt-Japan Exchange of Expertise Towards Water and Climate Challenges
Water scarcity, flooding, and the degradation of coastal zones are among the most pressing challenges both Egypt and Japan are facing, particularly in the context of climate change. Egypt, being a predominantly arid country, grapples with limited freshwater resources, while Japan is vulnerable to frequent flooding and coastal zone challenges due to its island geography and heavy rainfall patterns.
This joint session will focus on exchanging experiences and best practices between Egypt and Japan, fostering mutual learning to tackle shared water-related challenges intensified by climate change. By addressing water scarcity, flooding, and coastal zone management collectively, the two countries can build resilient and adaptive strategies to ensure water security and protect vulnerable coastal areas.
The session aims to create a platform for Egypt and Japan to exchange knowledge, innovations, and successful practices in water management. By fostering dialogue between the two nations, the session will explore collaborative solutions for:
o Tackling water scarcity through integrated water resource management.
o Adopting flood mitigation and control measures.
o Managing coastal zones to protect against sea-level rise and extreme weather events.
