9AWW: Africa Hydrology Dialogue

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Vision and Strategy for Hydrology (Resolution 4 (Cg-Ext (2021)) underscores commitment to contributing to the management of water resources and associated disasters, science-based hydrological predictions, and data standardization. The strategy is in line with The African Union Commission (AUC) continental multi-hazard early warning system, strategic pillars of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW Strategy 2018 – 2030), and the strategies for other regional and international organizations WMO in collaboration with AMCOW and the Government of Egypt, and in partnership with a wide range of institutions is organizing the Africa Hydrology Dialogue (AHD) 2024 under the theme: Bridging the gap in the Africa Water Sector and Disaster Risk Management - Towards the implementation of SDG6 and EW4ALL through integration of Hydrology and Climate Resilient Approaches. The dialogue will bring diverse range of stakeholders working across the science-policy-practice-usage spectrum. It promotes the implementation of EW4All systems, improve visibility of hydrological services and their socio-economic benefits, and enhance regional and sub-regional co-operation. It will create a better understanding of the factors driving change, challenges, the associated impacts, and opportunities for mutual dialogue between different stakeholders to align needs of NMHS and policy makers with that of scientific research
