9AWW: African Transboundary Management Benchmarking Workshop: Promoting Sustainable Transboundary Cooperation To Strengthen African Development

The sustainable and innovative management of the Transboundary River basins in the continent is essential to realise national and continental aspirations as well as strengthen international cooperation and peace. This workshop seeks to highlight the important and strategic role-played by African watercourse commissions and partners in ensuring equitable sharing of water, sustainable management of the river systems and their ecosystems, while promoting sustainable socio-economic development. The workshop will also seek to benchmark practices amongst the watercourse commissions on their management of climate change, water quality, research development and innovation, infrastructure, social, economic, political, and partnership and cooperation challenges.
