Nile Academic Exchange Program 2nd Symposium
The Nile Academic Exchange Program (NAEP), launched in 2023 by NBCBN in partnership with Wageningen University, IHE Delft, and supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Cairo, is a pioneering fellowship program fostering academic mobility, joint MSc research, and cross-basin collaboration. In just four calls, over 25 MSc students have completed exchange visits, and 31 funded proposals were selected from more than 100 applications.
Capacity development, once viewed as simple training, is now recognized as a complex process requiring tailored approaches that respond to local contexts while building sustainable impact. Aligned with the 2030 Agenda, NAEP advances integrated water resources management, transboundary research, and participatory governance, creating knowledge bridges across the Nile Basin.
As NAEP enters its consolidation phase, the 2nd Symposium at Cairo Water Week 2025 provides a platform to celebrate achievements, showcase fellows’ research, and chart the future of this initiative.
Objectives
• Highlight research outcomes and achievements of fellows and partner universities.
• Strengthen cross-basin academic and institutional networks.
• Engage supervisors and stakeholders to reflect on challenges and opportunities.
• Discuss future calls, sustainability, and alumni engagement.
• Position NAEP as a flagship capacity development initiative for the Nile Basin under NBCBN.
