Empowering the Next Generation: Science-Based Collaboration and Capacity Building in the Nile Basin

Transboundary river basins face growing challenges in coordinating and managing shared water resources, which are crucial for regional stability and development. Overcoming these challenges requires not only science-based cooperation, but also a strong investment in education, capacity building, and the meaningful inclusion of young professionals from riparian countries. Empowering emerging experts is key to fostering a new generation of leaders who can develop innovative, long-term solutions. This session will bring together distinguished experts from the educational field across the Nile riparian countries for a panel discussion to explore the critical role of science in shaping natural resources, resilience, and cooperation across the Nile Basin, with a special emphasis on education and empowering young researchers as key drivers of future collaboration.
