Integrating Climate Adaptation into Post-War/ Disaster Recovery
This session highlights the work of multiple UN entities in climate-sensitive recovery and green reconstruction post-conflict/ disaster. It draws on UN-Habitat’s recent building damage assessments, alongside UNICEF’s water sector damage mapping of Lebanon, UN-Habitat and ESCWA’s ongoing climate adaptation work (e.g., rainwater harvesting, reuse practices, permaculture), UN-Habitat’s collaboration with Arcadis on building back better homes, and the UN’s role in supporting inclusive, sustainable land use planning together with local partners.
