Objective
Water is everyone’s business. This event will serve as a capitalisation and forward-looking dialogue, connecting achievements from PRIMA, NEXTMED, Horizon Europe, and the EU4Water programme with Egypt’s ongoing transformation in the water sector. It will highlight how EU-supported initiatives are creating impact today and how future EU engagement can further strengthen Egypt’s role as a regional hub for Mediterranean water cooperation.
Purpose
The session aims to:
Capitalise on lessons from PRIMA and NEXTMED projects and link them with the EU4Water programme and Egypt’s water priorities.
Explore synergies with upcoming Horizon Europe work programmes, particularly Cluster 6 and the Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters” (Mediterranean Lighthouse).
Showcase how the EU’s comprehensive support to Egypt’s water sector — from governance reforms to investment in infrastructure (including the National Drainage Programme) — is connected to research, innovation, and regional cooperation.
Provide a platform for future-oriented dialogue on resilience, financing, and partnerships.
