Under the regional FAO-led initiative titled Supporting the Implementation of the Regional Water Scarcity Initiative in the Near East and North Africa (NENA) Region), ICARDA, in collaboration with FAO, is working to strengthen water resource planning and management in response to the escalating challenge of water scarcity. The focus is on promoting sustainable agricultural water use, restoration of degraded drylands, enhancing the resilience of food systems and water services, and fostering knowledge exchange across the region. The program follows a comprehensive and integrated approach, structured around three core outcomes, and where ICARDA is implementing several activities. To showcase its technical innovations, achievements, and future plans, ICARDA and FAO will host a dedicated technical session within the Regional Water Scarcity Initiative Programme Track at Cairo Water Week 2025.
